Camel Area

Introduction

The name of our group refers to the River Camel, shown in the picture above at Wadebridge (from the Cornish Cam meaning winding - nothing to do with camels!). We operate in a roughly 20 mile radius around Wadebridge and take in the towns of Camelford, Bodmin and Padstow. There are other groups in Cornwall and you can find details of these here.

Members choose the campaigns we work on and at present this includes:

•Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation

•Climate Change - its impact globally and locally

•Waste reduction and disposal

•Planning / development

•Global Forest protection

•Corporate responsibility issues

•Achieving a GMO free South-West

Whichever environmental concern you want to work on, we can help you become active in taking a role to put things right. We need your skills and knowledge whatever they may be - from fund raising, catering, I.T., science, letter writing, fun making etc!

When committed people join together and work towards achieving positive outcomes, there is no limit to the effect they can have.

MEETINGS

You will be most welcome to join us at our meetings which are held every first Tuesday of the month at  'THE GOODS SHED'  7.30 pm in Wadebridge.

You can park in either the library or Co-op car park and will find the Goods Shed between the bus-station and the John Betjamen Centre.
